Who Am I? What Does Veganized Living Mean To Me?

My name is NA'Sha Robertson but I go by Na', more recently, Coach Na'. I am 17 years old with big goals and aspirations. I am currently a student at Old Dominion University with the intention of double majoring in criminal justice and sociology.I am President of Vegans and Vegetarians of Old Dominion University (VegODU), campus rep for PETA2, and last but not least I am a majorette coach at Norview High School. I am young, black, vegan and proud. however, being vegan is about more than the adorable animals for me even though that's how it started. For me Being vegan is about peace and love forever, for everyone. Many vegans talk a lot about peace on earth for animals in regards to the treatment animals receive by humans but for me, it is about peace on earth for people and animals in regards to the treatment received by... people.  I believe we can all live as one regardless of color, sex, religion, species, gender, etc. I believe that the earth is meant to be shared by all, that humans have the ability to think for themselves, feel however they want to feel, I strangely believe that you cannot get peace through violence! Keep calm, be happy, speak softly, and use logic to make your point. While this is my belief, I am not far from perfect at this practice. I occasionally get upset, mad, angry; I yell, scream and shout. I will never proclaim to be perfect but I will always work towards it.
In the long run, I want to become an FBI agent. crazy right? How can I be working for peace and work for law enforcement? Easy! I believe in verbal de-escalation tactics or nonviolent crisis intervention that some cities have already implemented, New York's Buffalo City Police Department being one of the first. Buffalo City Police began 5 their de-escalation tactics a little over 5 years ago and have had ZERO police shootings. I'd call that pretty peaceful! However, the homicide division isn't a very peaceful place to work but I believe that every action committed by a person can be traced back in time. Whether it is to a belief developed at a certain time or something that happened to them or something they witnessed, I believe every action has a cause and I want to find the cause of their actions. I'm not saying they shouldn't go to prison because they should. I am saying that every criminal committed their crime for a reason and something in their past assisted with their ability to follow through with their crime. As I continue my education in Criminal Justice and Sociology, you all will have the ability to see how my opinions about people and life change, shift and alter. I am welcoming you to come with me on my journey to figure out this world and fix its problems through a veganized ( peace, love, forever and always for everyone by everyone) look on society

What Being a Black, Vegan, American Means To Me

I am a year old 18 born and raised African American. I am a sophomore at a university in Virginia and I am most definitely vegan. America is the land of the free and home of the home... at least that is what we are told. I see many brave men and women within America fighting for many different causes and in many different ways theoretically, they are "free" to do that. But what happens when people no longer feel free, what happens when people are scared of the very organizations that are supposed to protect us, what happens when people no longer just consider themselves as deserving of freedom?    Being black in America means being scared. It means never being free. Racism in America is something white people like to pretend does not exist unless it benefits them politically and many are racist and do not even know they are racist. If you are trying to figure out if you are racist, I am going to help you out. If you find yourself saying, thinking or doing any...
